Power Purchase Agreement

A new form of financing is the power purchase agreement, or PPA. In a PPA, another party pays for and owns the solar installation, then sells you electricity at guaranteed rates under a long-term contract, usually 10-25 years.   PPAs are an established way to finance commercial solar systems, and are now beginning to develop in the residential market as well. By using one or more of these financing options, combined with rebates and tax credits, we can help you structure a financial package that best fits your situation. In many cases, the reduction in your annual energy expense will exceed your annual solar system financing costs, creating a positive cash flow from day one.  In purchasing, operating and maintaining the solar system, the PPA partner assumes all the risks and responsibilities of ownership.  At the end of the PPA term you can either purchase the solar system at fair market value or extend the PPA.

At Solar Systems Unlimited (SSU), we have a dedicated financing department continuously researching the best financial vehicles and providers to serve our diverse customer base. Your SSU sales consultant can help you customize a plan to your needs.

With a PPA you reap all the advantages of going solar, from lower electricity costs to public relations benefits, while conserving precious capital for other needs and opportunities.

No up-front capital required

No maintenance work or risk

You secure a long-term contract for power, often below current utility rates.

*Selling your home or business under a PPA.

Three options are available to homeowners and businesses who decides to sell their  properties under a PPA agreement.

They can buy the rooftop solar system from the PPA company.

Or they can assign their power purchase agreement to the property’s next owner.

Or they can pay off the rest of the agreement, essentially buying the entire home's power for years in advance.
